Meet The Team
Stuart Vaughan
Stuart has gained invaluable experience with various aspects of sound engineering for over 30 years. His career began in radio with which he was involved for many years in addition to working in the West End as a club DJ. He then migrated to live sound, mixing local (and some well-known) bands. Since then he has progressed and has concentrated on musical theatre with extensive knowledge of sound design and is highly respected in this field. Stuart is a professional member of the Association for Sound Designers and Production. (ASDP).
Jo Epps
Jo has been working with Stuart for over 18 years mainly as a Sound No. 2 but is no stranger to operating the sound desk. In addition to sound, she has taken on other roles such as stage manager (Spillers Pantomimes), costume co-ordinator and producer (various) working on TV sets as a chaperone / tutor (SKY 1 - Spy season 2 / BBC - Boy in a Girl’s dress). Jo loves the variety of venues that sound work has taken her (especially the Minack in Cornwall) meeting and working with an eclectic mix of people during this time.
Philippa Stone (Flea)
Since the age of 14 Philippa has been involved in various theatre productions and even knew Stuart from her school days! During this time she has been able to gain experience performing on stage as well as back stage roles such as DSM, Stage Manager and producer. Since 2013 she has been a regular on our team and has gained much knowledge and skills as a Sound No. 2.
Sandra Mortimer
Sandra joined the sound team at in 2013. When not assisting with sound she enjoys performing on stage and working backstage as producer or wardrobe mistress. Her experience behind the scenes has allowed her to understand the needs of both cast and crew. Working as a Sound No. 2 has enabled her to design and manufacture comfortable and secure microphone belts that are now used for every production.
Stewart Gedall-Epps
Stewart joined the team in 2009. You will mainly find him up a ladder hanging speakers and mics in the most awkward of places or hidden in the pit rigging mics and speakers for the band or orchestra. Stewart also assists the sound team backstage, often works as stage crew and holds a chaperone licence.
Jacky Cook
Jacky is one of the newest to the sound team having joined in October 2013 to work on Annie at The Hawth Theatre in Crawley. Although she had plenty of experience in the theatre environment, both on and off stage, sound was not something she had worked before. With the help and support of other members of the team she found her feet quickly and hasn't looked back since.
